Daughters Of St. Francis Of Assisi In Lacon, Il

The other day, while I was on Facebook, a little ad popped up on the side about "testing your call" with the Lacon Franciscans.  I clicked on it and it took me to a survey page for the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi.  I filled it out and it was sent to their Vocation Director.  I got an email last night from Sr. M. Michael with information about the order.

These Sisters are members of IRL and CMSWR.  I don't think I've ever seen them mentioned here so I thought I'd put a plug in for them.  They haven't received a new vocation in quite a while and there are only 13 Sisters in the United States.  Their stated age limit is 18-40 but they will accept "belated" vocations.  Their main apostolate is nursing and healthcare of the poor, sick and elderly.

Please consider them if you are interested in healthcare or Franciscan spirituality.  :)

Just did the quiz... wanting for results :bounce:

Sr. M. Michael seems to be pretty quick.  I got her email at 8:40pm EST last night and I did the quiz yesterday morning.  ;)

Got another email from Sr. M. Michael tonight.  Please keep me in your prayers.  I sent her a very important question about my medication need (without explaining specifics) to see what their guideline is.  :)

Got a response!!! :woot:

I told you she was fast!  I got one today after sending one last night.  I might have to go visit them.  ;)

Thank you ladies!  I am wondering why I wasn't interested in this order previously.  They have a nursing apostolate and they are Franciscans.  I might have to submit a letter of reference before I visit because of the low-grade depression issue but it doesn't seem to be a problem.  Thanks be to God!  :)

How exciting MM! I noticed in their video, on their webpage (at 2:51 I believe), that one of the Sisters is receiving a ring on her wedding finger; how beautiful. They have a really nice set schedule for prayer also. I hope soon enough that you find your home. If your anything like me in this situation then I certainly can relate to wanting to find your place. All in His time though, right? :) Sometimes things happen very quickly when we don't expect them too and when it doesn't seem like much is happening at all. It reminds me of this Scripture passage, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working." John 5:17-18

Sounds like a good fit for you Mater!       You are a CNA aren't you?      Please God your low-grade issue will not be a problem for them, and you can move forward.      My prayers will continue for you in your discernment.

Yes, I worked as a CNA previously in a nursing home.  I'm trying to work with Sr. MM to see what she needs.  I would rather not visit until I know that my medical issues won't be a problem since I can't afford to spend a lot of money on airfare.  :)
