Is One Bound To Stop Someone From Sacrilegious Communion?

One of my not very close friends said less than week ago to me that he does not believe that Catholic Faith is the only true Faith( I then told him immediately  that he cannot be a catholic if he thinks so)  was today next to me in line to receive the Holy Eucharist. Today I did not tell him anything even dough he was standing right behind me and he received Communion. I did not say anything to him today because I thought that he would not listen to me or maybe he has confessed his sins but my conscience still bothers me because I am not sure that he knew that he must refrain from Communion if he is living in a state of mortal sin. Actually I am not even sure that he knows what mortal sin is.  

 

 

Was my duty to say something?

What I must do in future situations like this one?

Am I obliged to contact him, and say something to him?

I do not know the specifics well enough to say exactly what you should do. Perhaps your friend misunderstood what you were saying or what he was saying. Perhaps he had repented and had gone to confession. It is usually not our place to excommunicate people. 

 

You are obligation in this matter probably is not engaged during the Mass. The communion line <usually> is not the place for you to say something about these matters.

 

Let us suppose you are correct and it is a worst case scenario  You have spoken to your friend, yes. Now, take another friend, and then if that does not work go and see the priest about it. 

 

Also, that bit about <only> has some leeway, though probably not as musch as your friend thinks. Again I do not know the specifics of your conversation.

 

I would reflect on what Lumen Gentium says. There might be ways to explain this teaching of the Church in a manner he accepts or a way to change his mind using good apologetics.  

 

And to prevent an allergic reaction from radtrads, of whose number I could easily be counted by most, out side the Church there is no salvation.
