jazzytakara
Today we learned about the Sacrament of Confirmation. At the end we watched a movie and the following was asked by the movie's host in reference to the former persecution of Christians throughout history: "If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you"? It really had me thinking about all of the times that I fail to act like a good Christian. Its just something to think about when we face temptation to sin and it gives us something to reflect upon when we examine ourselves, our lives, and our relationship with God. Gabriela
I hope this doesn't burst the bubble of your spiritual insight, but my thoughts on this are pretty mundane: The evidence used to convict Christians was usually stuff like a Bible in the house, known attendance at Mass, consorting with other known Christians, the wearing/hidden tattoo of a cross, confession by the accused him-/herself, etc. And even if there were enough evidence, one could almost always get off by "simply" renouncing Christ publicly. That being said, when I think about persecution of Christians, I always ask myself: "If Christians in my country were suddenly subject to the death penalty for their faith—or even just to fewer job opportunities—would I stick by Jesus, or would I get all 'practical' and crap?"
