Pontifite 7 of 10
So this is how it happened: I have a day off tomorrow. I decided that I was going to spend all that day reading my old comicbooks. While yanking all of the hardbacks off my bookshelf, I decided I as going to reorganize. So I yank off my old zoobooks, Captain Underpants novels, bibles, and what not...but then I come across this cup, just a little spiderman coffee cup. I start taking things out of it. Inside I find a plastic frog, a rosary ring, and what is probably a first class relic of an unknown saint. Crazy right? I totally had forgotten I had it. I didn't even remember what it was. But next to it was the official document from the Vatican (in Latin) that verified it was a relic. I vaguely recall some conference where a priest had decided to give it to me, but I cannot for the life of me remember where I got this or which saint it could belong to. So...uh...what should I do? I mean, the document could be bogus and the little crucifix that supposedly contains the relic could be a fake. But...I dunno... what if I do have some relic and I had let it gather dust for three years. What does once do with a relic anyway? I feel really weird. Just wanted someone to know :smile4:
Nihil Obstat
Can you scan and post that document? I would love to see it.
Pontifite 7 of 10
I have a scanner somewhere around here. If I remember correctly it makes a lot of noise. I'll be able to copy that tomorrow when no one here is sleeping.
Nihil Obstat
It is not really the same thing, but a while ago I was given some religious odds and ends that belonged to my great aunt and grandmother, and one especially neat thing was a rosary made out of olive pits. It had been blessed in Rome by Pope Pius XII. I noticed that there was a kind of strange pin looking device at the bottom of the rosary's crucifix, and I had a hunch (which proved correct) that it unscrewed. I took the pin out and the whole crucifix opened on a hinge, and inside was a bit of dirt, and a tiny little piece of paper that said "Terra Catacombe" - Catacomb earth. It is a little bit of dirt taken from the catacombs in Rome.
Pontifite 7 of 10
The top of this crucifix unscrews! Never noticed that before! It also has a clear back and there are some words inside and speck of something or another.
Nihil Obstat
So you are thinking that whatever is inside the crucifix is probably the relic itself? Very cool design for a reliquary, is it not? :)

elizabeth09
I agree. I have this thought that I am going to find something, never find it. Then thing I know I find it.
