homeschoolmom
Fantastic show when it started out... but once they made it clear Steve Carell was leaving, everything went downhill. John Krasinski has been the constant humor throughout the series though! Except.... Jim is.... just.... not... Jim. I would not have expected Jim, who used to always get the better of Dwight (and later Andy) in pranks to get pranked (to the point of being a sniviling weenie) by Dwight. What the heck was that whole snowball/snowman episode? Jim is afraid to walk through a parking lot of snowmen?? What?? Jim "died" that day. And he doesn't mug for the camera anymore. I know some people hated that, but really... it's very Jim. Darryl is another one whose character has not been consistent. Darryl used to teach Michael all that "street" lingo etc. Now, he's just another bumbling office worker. Angela? What? No. Completely unbelievable. Oscar-- the man who called Dwight out for being with Angela while she was engaged to Andy. He's now having an affair with her husband?? Come on. Isn't anyone's character consistent?? He used to be a rational "everyman." Now he's a caricature. To the show's credit, the Pam/Jim relationship was really well done. None of the typical sit-com ploys of "They're apart, but then they get together... then they have a huge fight... will they get back together?" etc. (Think Ross/Rachel, Sam/Diane, etc, ad infinitum). Their relationship was always handled very well, and I think that was the backbone of the show.
