Carmel Of St. Joseph (in St. Louis) - New Website

The Carmelites in St. Louis have had a web page for years, but there was very little information on it about their current status.

It seems that someone has designed a new web site for them: http://www.stlouiscarmel.com/

It also seems that they have four women in formation!

Oh wow, thanks for sharing! I have visited them. They are in the St. Teresa Association and under the 1991 Constitutions. They have an extremely beautiful old monastery, and their adoration is so wonderful & unique! They have many stories of people who come to their chapel and receive so many graces from the Lord!

They are less traditional in some ways, but one would learn this by visiting and asking them. The Subprioress told me they are more in the middle of the road compared to other Carmels/something along those lines.

They are the second oldest Carmel in the nation.. lots of wonderful history there! The main character in this story entered there & went on to found another Carmel, http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/topic/109682-all-american-girl-story-of-a-vocation-to-carmel/

Also, Mother Elias spent time there before she made the foundation in Grand Rapids. Originally the Bishop of Buffalo requested St. Louis make a foundation in his diocese, but St. Louis asked Mother Elias to make it instead, which was very providential for God's plans for Buffalo Carmel and Mother Elias' promise to St. Therese :like:

Have visited their public chapel frequently in the course of a lifetime, and it is simply beautiful. I'll never forget when the relics of St. Therese were there for public display--the crowds overwhelmed the neighborhood for quite a while.

Their extern sister has been getting on in years,  If someone were called to be a Carmelite extern, this would be the place to try that vocation.  They have tremendous support from the Catholic community.
