Mary's Child
MC, What about a second opinion on the dental work? My sister was told by her dentist that she needed very expensive dental work. When she visited home this summer she went to my dentist and he told her she didn't need anything done! Just a thought...or maybe this is your trusted family dentist and it "just has to be." Anyone know a patron saint for dental work? Prayers are coming your way! Yes there is definatly work that needs to be done I need bridges to fill in for missing teeth also there is one that needs to be pulled. I am going to get a second opinion and be sure their is not a less expensive way to do it. Funny you should ask about a patron saint of dental work... St Apollonia is the patron Saint of dentists and dental work. I know this because a while back Mother emailed telling me that they had someone come with a big bag of saints names and ask each of the sisters to choose a special patron for the year. They were more than happy to do it because this is an old custom in convents. So Mother chose one for herself and then reached in to pick one out for me. Mine is St Apollonia :saint2: she emailed me about it right away and was so happy and excited. It was great. Thank you so much for the prayers I still have a long ways to go. The patron Saint for dentists and tooth problems is Saint Apollonia. :) Will keep you in prayer MC! Remain hopeful and trusting (patience will help too!) during this time. Everything will work out. "Jesus, I trust in You!" LOL we were both typing it at the same time rotfl

AnneLine
Mary's Child, Is there a dental school near you? I know one discerner who had to have some extensive work done, and got it free or close to free by going to the dental school in the SF area, and I believe there are several in the LA area. Dental schools need people for general cleanings and fillings and X-Rays, and they need people who need more extensive dental work done. You get excellent work because the students need to prove that they can do the work well to graduate -- sometimes you get the BEST work done at a dental school for that reason! The downside is that often it takes a lot of time -- because the students need to take their time to get it done right. But it might be a really good option for you..... certainly would check it out! I had my feet operated on at a Podiatric college... I wouldn't go anywhere else. As one of the student doctors put it, literally, "The doctor who will be supervising that surgery WROTE THE BOOK on the procedure." That was good enough for me! And he personally checked every step... same is true of the dental work. Certainly might be worth exploring! (Obviously, if you have insurance, they will take it, but they often have low-cost programs for people without it....) Praying.... HisAlone
MC...any news on the dental challenges? We're praying for you. Also inseem to remember you saying that you were new to the Latin Mass. So during this time of waiting I would like to recommend a book titled "The Latin Mass Explained" written by Rev. Msgr. George Moorman. I think this book would be most helpful to you. In fact it doesn't matter if you never attend the EF Mass this book goes deep into the Mass period - a very profound book!

Praying.... Thanks for the recommendation I actually live about a mile over the border between one county and another and I dont think our county has any dental schools. And if we do it would be at least a 90 minute drive each way to get there and I only have a few hours a couple of days a week when I am not working. There have been some developments on the dental work front. I got a call from the Knights of Columbus last night they have some dentists who may be willing to donate their services. This is a huge blessing and I am extremely grateful for it. Please continue to pray that things will continue in this direction.

Mary's Child
Hi! Everyone, so... things were going so very well until last Tuesday. That is when my boss told me I was being layed off off so I will have no job. I do not think this means I should not enter but I have no idea how it will work out. Please pray this is being very hard for me to handle. As Mother said God is 'asking great trust of me right now".

My friend was laid off the first of January because her job became obsolete. Now she is back in school training for a different career through WorkSource. I hope and pray things work out so that you may find a new position somewhere.
