Mrs. Bro. Adam, when in doubt, ask a priest. I'm sure a person who has gone through RCIA would know more than me, though...

Yep, they should know what they're doing. You'll be fine, Mrs. Bro!

What scares me, though, is that I know more than the RCIA instructors do. I mean..I could probably out argue them in Catholicism!

I dunno...I'd rather just get into the second half of RCIA so I can just be ready and wait for it to come!...

That is a sad and all too common problem today. I am so going to help out with RCIA as much as possible...

That's cool!

Brother Adam could probably teach them better than they could teach us!

In my honest evaluation of your husband, I think he could teach theology at some major seminaries...already...

As a baptized Catholic, you could go to confession now, and I believe recieve absolution (this is the first sacrament you will take part of anyway - confession, confirmation, communion).

Call St. Isadore's and tell the secratary you are in RCIA and you would like to make an appointment to speak to one of the priests to get to know them and ask them a few questions you have.

Then ask the priest about coming to confession on Saturday afternoons.

The only requirement for confession (besides being baptized) is that you believe in what is taking place in confession. Anyone can of course go and briefly talk to a priest in confession and anyone can otherwise make an appointment to speak with a priest.

lol- when in doubt, consult your catechism and code of canon law.

yes, for a baptized Christian you must go to Confession before receiving Communion. This will usually take place after receiving proper instruction about Confession. The priest and your RCIA instructor should determine this. just ask the pastor and the RCIA instructor when you guys get to go...
Not everyone has to go thru RCIA. I suggest you guys go talk to a priest.
Our Parish is in the process of having a new director for Christian Education. So in the meantime we have been asked to stay in RCIA until he has been here a few weeks. I believe we will be talking to him for the first time tonight. Once he's had a chance to be there a little while and his head stops spinning, we're going to discuss skipping portions of RCIA (Inquiry classes - which in themselves need serious reform) and to the last half. I think it is important to go through some of RCIA since we have been separated from the Church the majority of our lives, as there are probably little things here and there we otherwise may not pick up on (for example I'm a leftie so I always had been genuflecting on my left knee, which through RCIA I found out you are only suppose to kneel on your right knee).

Once through RCIA I hope to be able to join the leadership group and make a few strong suggestions about the classes ;) )

Bro Adam,

You are a braver man than I. Be prepared for a battle!

Just a note to the Mrs., and all who yearn for sacramental absolution...well...confession is AWESOME, but it is not the only way to be forgiven.

Even the protestant way of "just confessing to God," if it meets certain standards, is effecacious.

I recommend to everyone, especially those who cannot go to confession, to examine their consciences. DAILY people. (haha but I need to work on that too.) And I recommend at least daily acts of contrition.
