Dante-Deyanira Jimeno
I was talking to my coworker that is protestant. We were talking about the catholic church been the church create by Jesus. She said they agree but that after Peter died. They change stuff. Which I don't believe but I want to get more information to explain it. She said that after he died. They set a rule that priest could not be married. I have never heard that. Also that every time a pope is eleceted the same catholic people askĀ him to removed the rule about priests been able to get married. Also do you have a good link where I could learn about the books in the bible that we have that they don't have. They said we add them but of course they were there before luther left. They said that those books can't be proven. Thank you for your help.
CatherineM
First off the marriage question. Priestly celibacy is a simple disciple of the church. The Church has different levels of rules. The highest are called Dogma or Infalliable. Those are Truths that come from God that the Church has no power to change. A Discipline of the Church is the lowest rule. It can easily be changed or be waived by the Church. There are many married priests in the Catholic Church. All of those who are ordained to an Eastern Catholic Rite, such as Byzantine, can be married as well as former Protestant ministers who convert to the Latin Rite. We don't want to make men chose between their conversion and their wives. Celibate priests are the ideal though. Anyone who has worked closely with priests understand well that it would be difficult for them to do their jobs and give adequate time to their families. It can be done obviously, but it's okay to reach for the ideal. However, if the Church decided tomorrow to allow all Latin Rite priests to marry, it could easily do so.
