PhuturePriest
The Jungle was a great read. So was The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks - yes there was romance in it but I would categorize it more as a thriller. I was glued. What's wrong with there being romance in it? HisChildForever
What's wrong with there being romance in it? Nothing. I said I've been reading a lot of his books lately. I clearly have no problem with the romance. However some people might not be interested in it. For instance, I love love love the film adaption of The Notebook but I found the book (the very first Sparks book I read) to be a little corny and too sappy for my taste. I misread it and thought you implied there having been romance was a bad thing. Sorry.

somethingfishy
The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. The protagonist and his companions travel from hell to heaven -- we listen in on conversations between the saved and the damned. If you liked Screwtape Letters you'll like this. Note that the book is not meant to be literal in the sense of "this is what heaven/hell will be like" but an allegory/fantasy, so some parts of it aren't precisely what's in the Catechism, but if you can live with that it's a good read. Relatively easy reading level (a reasonably intelligent high-schooler could get through it without difficulty) and short length. Holds up to re-reading very well indeed. Both this book and Screwtape are among my favorite "theology for people who don't like theology" selections. Highly recommended.
Not The Philosopher
Currently reading Finnegans Wake and Sons of Cain (the latter is Catholic fiction, I'm just a couple chapters in though). way madness lies. That

jazzytakara
"Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. Dick. It originally began to be a reading for a class I start this week (we have to read two novels this month, so I thought I'd read them both before the class actually began and other reading started, but I couldn't put it down, I finished it in about a day and a half. Its an interesting read that explores what it actually means to be human and is set in a post-apocalyptic society.
