Why I Returned To A Catholic Church

I go to midnight mass every year with my family.  The last time I was in a Church was St. Ilijia.  A Catholic Church run by Franciscans in Bosnia.  I left an umbrella in it.  My home parish now uses white wine with communion.  Times, they are a changin'.  

 

The Priest pretended not to remember my name.

It is nice since it is very familiar.  But somewhat foreign all the same.  A difficult experience to convey.

I went to my parents Baptist church. It's my old church from a few years ago. It's always weird and nice to be back in such a church. It was nice to see a couple people who know me that I am sort of friends with. I go every few months to a friend's church or my parents church for Christmas and Easter.  It always feels more exciting than that stale sense of of conforming to a box I do not fit that regularly attending their worship inspires in me.

 

P.S I am so jealous that you went to Bosnia. Please tell me why and what was it like?

I have to admit, the only times I have been in a church this year was for my Dad's funeral in november, and then my grandma's in early december.

For what it's worth about your name.... my family and I attended our parish with the same priest for YEARS, my brothers were altar servers and what not, and one day the priest saw me walking behind them in the parking lot and said to my father, "Oh, I didn't know you also had a little girl!" 

 

Always a swell thing to hear when you're a self-conscious adolescent.  :|
