That's scary. That happened to me and I just turned 48.

This has not happened to me (I'm only 44), but I expect that it will.

Although for a guy, it is probably better to be mistaken for older than you are. Offers an advantage in one's career. Or so I hear.

People think I'm a lot older than I am. If my whole family goes out they ask if we want separate checks. I've been asked if I'm the  mother of my siblings, and thought I was the wife of my father.

The grass is always greener on the other side, I guess... Haha!

I get that sometimes.  In fact December 2, I got that at my church.  Someone thought that one of my sisters was my daughter.

I even look yougher then apper.  I am thinking this because I have 7 younger sibings.

I have been mistaken several times as my sister's husband, even though she is six years older than I. People assume so much just because you are walking close together and are holding hands... What's weird about me being mistaken as her husband is that I used to be mistaken for her son, which again is understandable with the hand-holding and all.

Okay I hope this is past tense and that you aren't walking down the street hand-in-hand present day...

My dad found it stings even worse when it comes from someone older than you. At least you can shrug off the young'un and say you remember back when you thought 40 was old...

Growing a beard helps, a lot. Since I was 16, people always thought I was older. I'm 24 now, everybody thinks I'm 30.

But seriously, what helps most is dressing appropriate to your age and acting accordingly. And of course accepting some people will always treat you like a child in some way (old parish ladies tend to do that with priests ;)). That's life, you will do that with people younger than you too in the future.

Once my voice changed somewhere around 13 everyone I'd talk to on the phone who didn't know me thought I was 40 or Berry White. Now that I'm older my hair has grown thicker and darker every year, while my two younger brother's have thinning hair lines and gray hairs. Of course they each have four children and a wife. So perhaps that explains that...

I'll be glad to be old and grey someday because that will mean I'm still alive to love and annoy you guys. Assuming phatmass is forever!

Unless we were walking down some dark alley or she was scared my sister would never hold hands with me and if I for some crazy reason tried to I'd get punched, slapped in the face. But that's just how we roll. Edited by KnightofChrist

I'm 20 years old but often times I feel like I'm way younger. It's not how I act or how I present myself. But, I just put everyone above me which lead me to feel like a kid. The weird thing is that I was in the store just yesterday and a cashier  called me "ma'am" and I heard her but it didn't even register that she was talking to me because I've always been treated like a kid. So, what should I do to feel older because right now I do not feel my age. How does the spiritual life come into play with this situation?

Get a friend who a reasonable person could describe as 'sassy' and who is sexually attracted to other men.

It's rare, but we do sometimes hold hands. She's still very much a mother to me, so sometimes she will take my hand and pull me somewhere or pull me out of someone's way. But it's not like we walk down the street holding hands or anything.
