A Poem

Byzantine

Recommended Posts

Here is a poem by Basil Iungros. I want to publish it on my blog for Christmas, but am unsure if the theology is correct. What do you think?

The light of Christ appears in cave today.

The wise from far away approach the Child.

The star which scorned men's praise doth teach to bow

The kings who sought the God Who still was wild –

Untamed by minds of fools on earth deemed strong.

The child Who bore the hope of Adam's race

Did not seem meet to task: to right the wrong –

What Child is This Who John says came with grace?

But God does not consult the mind of man

To find a limit drawn upon His power.

With wisdom passing words He makes His plan

And deigns to man be made in fateful hour.

And thus the Savior comes to save the sons

Of race whose blood in veins of God yet runs.
