I'd prop this if I could. I guess my rant was a little uncalled for, and more frustration induced than it needed to be. I was forced to watch some 2012 documentary on the History Channel, and it annoyed me so much how ridiculous all those theories were and how many bought into them all. And so I became a bit bitter and disillusioned with society again. Thanks for the replies and patience, they renewed my hope a bit. Sorry if I seemed naive and disrespectful earlier, its been a long week. 

Also maybe you could suggest some good examples from our culture for me to enjoy? Mainstream media has failed to provide lately...

 

Don't look to mainstream if you're looking for excellent art and beauty. What is good, true, and beautiful is often pushed aside for what is quick, fun, and short lived. This is true throughout history (even looking at the Greek philosophers; the culture of their time involved older men sexually engaging younger boys).

 

There have been some awesome Christian movies out in the last 50 years. One of my favorites that I've seen recently is a 2006 fictional biography of a Russian Orthodox saintly man http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Island_(2006_film).
