Kateri89
The more I learn about this order, the more I'm falling in love with it! I love that they mix Dominican and Franciscan spirituality (I love both) and that their monastery is in such a peaceful setting with all the wild animals (like St. Francis would looove). So now that I've gushed about how much I love this order, I guess I could ask my question. On their website it talks about the donations for retreats and I was curious if anyone knows if this is for all retreats including vocation retreats? After all, this order's primary apostolate is hosting retreats in general. The reason I ask is because the donation amount is $160. I've been on retreat before with the Nashville Dominicans and the donation amount was only $25. It just seems like a lot of money for young women who are most likely making many retreats to find out where they're called. Lol if we had to donate that much for each retreat we'd be broke! deusluxmea
I cannot speak for the SSEW, but I know our phorum friends will be able to enlighten you. I do know that the Passionist retreat house near me charges around 180 per retreat, and that is even though a retreat costs the organization over 250 dollars per retreatant. If people are unable to make that amount, they can arrange a payment plan or take a donation place.
Lilllabettt
they do not expect a donation from vocation discerners.

Catholicterp7
If you are discerning with them they don't charge anything (ETA for any retreat, not just vocations retreats) but I'm sure would appreciate any donation you could give. Kateri89
Thanks everyone! I was just thinking that I'd have to fly there for a retreat and the cost of the flight plus another $160 would be a lot of money. I appreciate the clarification. I love this order
OnlySunshine
That was something I asked Sr. Louise Marie, their Vocation Mistress, when I contacted her because I about hit the floor when I saw the price. I was relieved when she wrote me and told me that discerners to the community are not required to pay. :)

Kateri89
Ok I give up- who are the SSEW? Sisters Servants of the Eternal Word. They're a contemplative/active order in Birmingham, Alabama and they are mixed Franciscan and Dominican spirituality (although technically they follow the Rule of St. Francis). http://www.sisterservants.org/
To Jesus Through Mary
Ahhhhh right. :hehe: I was trying to think of every religious order I could and how they could fit those initials. I can't believe they didn't pop into my head...
