Kateri89
I've been discerning with the Sisters of Life for awhile but I'm also discerning with the SSVM and they take very unusual religious names. Most of us female discerners like to dream up what new religious name we would like to take (as evidenced by the responses on the phorum) but if you were discerning with this particular order, what name would you choose? For anyone unfamiliar with this order, they take a 4th vow of Marian slavery and choose names that reference the Blessed Mother. For instance, I received an email today from Mother Immaculate Conception. There's also a Sr. Muire Chroi Iosa (Mary Heart of Jesus). If I enter this order, I think I'd like to be Sr. Nyina Wa Jambo (Mother of the Word) which is the title the Blessed Mother gave herself when she appeared in Kibeho, Rwanda. It's one of my favorite apparitions. Thoughts?
the171
Sr. Marie Protectrice de la Foi is my friend who was clothed last Friday. Perfect name for a French Cajun like herself. I love their names! All the languages and stuff. So universal!
OnlySunshine
I think, if I went into that community, I'd have to choose either Sr. Marie Mater Misericordiae or Sr. Marie Czestochowa. If I got the latter, I could be called "Sr. Zesty"! :hehe2: Edited December 12, 2012 by MaterMisericordiae

DiscerningCatholic
Do any of you PM regulars really need me to finish typing this out? Sr. Mary ______ of ___ __________. If you do, I'm sorely disappointed in you. :nono:
carmenchristi
I go to school with a SSVM sister. She is cute. She told me some of her sisters' names. They are indeed... Different.
DiscerningCatholic
Or Sr. Maria, Mater Eucharistiae... :|

OnlySunshine
Or Sr. Maria, Mater Eucharistiae... :| That's very pretty! I love these as well but I don't know if another Sister already has them: Sr. Maria Rosa Mystica Sr. Mary, Our Lady of Grace Sr. Regina Caeli Sr. Mary Konwalia (Polish for "Lily of the Valley")
Eowyn
I think, if I went into that community, I'd have to choose either Sr. Marie Mater Misericordiae or Sr. Marie Czestochowa. If I got the latter, I could be called "Sr. Zesty"! :hehe2: One of the communities that I am discerning with has Our Lady of Czestochowa as one of it's patrons. I'll have to keep that name in mind - Sister Zesty sounds kinda cool. :saint2: I kinda like Sister Mary Clement for names.
Catholicterp7
I would either be Sister Maria Amata Filia or Sister Mary Morning Star. JMJ+
Cherie
Since many of these Sisters' names are so long, do you know if they end up getting "nicknames," and if so, what they would be for a particular name (eg. do you know any such "nicknamed" SSVMs)? Yep, they definitely do give nicknames. Sr. Zesty is what I would probably be if I became Sr. Marie Czestochowa. :hehe2: Here is a thread about some of the names: http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/topic/72904-servants-of-the-lord-and-the-virgin-of-matara-updates/ However, I know TJTM here knows the Sisters very well so hopefully she can explain it better. :)
