Brother Adam
What is the appropriate time to end our membership with our current non-Catholic church? Should we wait until we are members of a Catholic Church?
homeschoolmom
I would do it now. There's no reason to wait. We would have ended our membership in February (when we decided to reconcile), but didn't because we wanted to wait (I'm sure many of you have heard me say this so many times you know what's coming next....) until our children finished the school year. They weren't learning anything heretical and it seemed wrong to yank them unnecesarily... We feared they would only come to resent being Catholic. We did officially end our membership a few weeks before Easter. However, in your case, you have no children, you have no need to ever attend there again. I would do it now. A clean break is easier. Then you can spend the summer defending yourself against all of your well-meaning friends who are concerned about your hell-bound soul.
cmotherofpirl
When you get to the point you are uncomfortable there?

Quietfire
I havent returned to my church since Easter. There was no communion. (not that that's the reason) But after learning so much here, I expected communion on Easter, to really appreciate Jesus that much more, but it didnt happen. Service was an hour and a half long, but they spent about a half hour on a baptism. I havent officially left that Church, as I am trying to figure out how and what to tell them. I will accept any ideas. Peace.
Ellenita
Are you still attending services at that church? Your decision to be received in the Catholic church is firm isn't it - you certainly haven't reached that decision lightly Bro Adam! There doesn't seem to be any reason to continue with your membership at the other church.

akamarymag
I stopped going the day i decided to become catholic. i dont think my conversion would be the same if i didnt. I mena it was painful to watch others recive every week and for me to wish i could but it made that night i did more special to me. A the Lutheran Church i went to they had communion every week ( i know theres no transubstantiation in the protestant church) i couldnt even bring myslef to go there to recive the BREAD and WINE you know. the further i went away from the protestant church the more i went to the catholic church. I was less confused going to one church than two.
