Maravillas
I had already seen this wonderful short extract, but it's a shame I can't see the whole documentary!
Chiquitunga
I had already seen this wonderful short extract, but it's a shame I can't see the whole documentary! ditto :) also, something I've observed in French Carmels (edit: well really just this one from this clip and Ars, and then an SSPX one) they do not seem to have double grilles. I am talking among the traditional ones, and this black & white clip would surely have been from before the Declarations (1977 transitionary legislative text for OCD nuns before Constitutions were approved, it was very very general), etc. Here is the 1990 Carmel in Ars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_7YUM6bSFw Also from these pictures of an SSPX Carmel, they do not seem to have them either, although they wear the great veil (one that covers faces entirely, worn at certain moments) as Mother Catherine is in my profile picture. Just an observation, seriously not a criticism here. It is interesting. The US French 1990 Carmels I know of do have double grilles though .. except Flemington & Erie I think. Traverse City (1990) doesn't either, although they are Spanish/Mexican in origin. A friend told me one Mother Prioress (Elysburg) explained to her about the specifics called for with the double grille from some document/book .. about them being something like 16 inches apart .. but I have not been able to figure out what that is. It does not seem to be in the 1990 Constitutions, unless I overlooked it. All very interesting anyway.
