Selah
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-20606451 The Greek Orthodox patriarch of Syria, Ignatius IV (Hazim), has died in neighbouring Lebanon at the age of 92. Syria's state news agency, Sana, reported that Patriarch Ignatius died in Beirut's St George's hospital on Wednesday after suffering a stroke. His remains would be brought from Lebanon to Syria for burial, it added. May his memory be eternal.

CatherineM
Prayers :( It always seems extra sad to me, when someone dies as their home is locked in a serious struggle. He must have died with a heavy heart. It makes me wonder though. What would have happened if the Pope had died during WW2? The Cardinals couldn't have come to Rome. BG45
That is an interesting hypothetical...my personal guess would be Portugal. Pius XII once told a number of Bishops and Cardinals that if he were to be kidnapped by the Nazis, he would effectively want the college to consider it a resignation from the Papacy and that they were to meet in neutral Portugal to determine a successor.
