gopherball33
I like the 70s band Led Zeppelin. I was on a bus to a field trip yesterday, and one of my friends said that they were satanic, and that their symbol (someone flying with wings) is Lucifer. There is nothing legitimate in their songs that I know of that is satanic, but in one song, Stairway to Heaven, if played backwards, sounds like it says "Here's to my sweet Satan." It continues for a bit on that, then stops. I think that it must be a coincidence, as it would be impossibly hard to record something that if played backwards would be coherent. Two of the band's lead memebers say that they did not mean to do that. I just want some opinions here. Thanks.
Donna
Fuzzy thinking here, Gopher, but I wanto say that Jimmy Page was (is?) quite taken w/ Allister Crowley, one into very scary and icky "magik" ...long time ago I read about L.Z. and this. *re-checking her source* OK, here's a quote from Interview with Dave Mustaine and Al Pitrelli from Megadeth: When I was first listening to music and I was learning Led Zeppelin , people didn’t really like Led Zeppelin cause it was too heavy. Everyone thought that Jimmy Page was a spawn of the devil because he was into Allister Crowley. People thought that KISS was Knights In Satan’s Service. They thought AC/DC was AntiChrist or something like that… O no, Precious. Not with names like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. Where O where would nasty little hobbittesses get these ideas? Anyway, G-pher, I did read a biography...and it is nothing a Catholic should come w/in 100 feet of (I read it before converting). John Bonham's demise into alcoholism was particulary tragic and terrible. Maybe think of it this way? Does the beat/howls and moans/screaming guitar, etc; make one inclined to think or do something virtuous...or not? Something one might wanto ask Our Lord about, over time. homeschoolmom
People used to say that the theme from "Mr. Ed" was satanic because when played backwards it sounded like "I sing this song for satan."... I have no idea about Led Zepplin, though... But I won't have that 60's era talking horse on my TV!!!

I kinda get the urge 2 head bang (if u dont kno, its like throwing your head back in forth to rock music), but i hardly think that thats bad. Colleen
I listen to Led Zeppelin. I don't see anything wrong with it, really. They have a lot of Tolkien references!
