OwNeD_byGoD
(believe me i am 100% catholic and defend the views of the caholic church, i just want to clarify some things) ok so there are a variety of things i want to discuss concerning fruitfulness 1. homosexuality 2. masturbation 3. fruitfulness of matrimony -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. A major reason in the catholic faith that homosexuality is wrong is because of the fact that they cannot be fruitful in respect to lacking the ability to bear children(PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG OR ADD ANYTHING) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. The reason that masturbation is wrong is for the same reason that homosexuality is wrong, it is a means which cannot bear children (AGAIN CORRECT ME) so the reasoning for homosexuality and masturbation to be wrong is because it shows greediness of the people practicing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Many of the families that claim to be catholic are now resulting in a lack of teaching the values and ideas of catholicism to their children (.i.e. my family has always been 'catholic' yet i am the only one who goes to church and my sisters, both older, want to take their kids to mexico so they can have their first communion done and over with in a couple of weeks compared to the years of classes here in the US) and are also resulting in a condoning way of lifestyle by introducing contraceptives to the lifestyle. so now even the 'holy matrimony' lifestyle becomes just as wrong as a homosexual lifestyle since naither of the two are resulting in a way of life that is the way we are supposed to live -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- also, i want to ask what the difference is between a heterosexual couple that is wed yet cannot produce children because of infertility yet they adopt children to be fruitful, and a homosexual couple that, obviously, is not fruitful, yet also adopts children to be fruitful. Quietfire
I can try to answer you, but it is more personal than by church authority. I see a difference in a couple who is infertile wishing to adopt a child than a homosexual couple doing the same. It isnt a question of the wanting to adopt. Man and woman in Holy matrimony fulfill God's Will. To join together to bring into actuality. Some cannot conceive. It isnt a punishment (nor am I implying you thinking that) but a test (as such) Adoption would also fulfill God's Will. By bringing more to Him, even if not by thier own (from them)offspring, I think that would be pleasing to God. Your sencond question though, on homosexuals as a couple...would end right there. Since the Church does not view being homosexual as a sin, but acting on it as a sin...then a 'couple' to me would clarify an act. Thereby being a sin. As far as them adopting, then sinners acting out would be thereby causing more sin.(adopting) putting the childs soul in danger through thier actions. But again, it stops (the arguement) with a homosexual couple. Because they are in the 'act' which is of itself....a sin. Again, this is my own personal understanding. As I am still learning Catholicism. Peace. Edited May 23, 2004 by Quietfire
