Lil'Nun
Hi all, Has anybody discerned with the Redemptoristine Sisters in Dublin? I think they look wonderful and wondered if anyone had visited them at all? http://www.rednuns.com/ Either post here or send me a PM if you prefer. Kateri89
I don't know anything about them but I love seeing nuns in unusual colored habits like the Pink Sisters or these Redemptoristine Sisters (that is a long name lol). I'll pray for your discernment.
Orans
I've been a Redemptoristine nun that later became a hermit. I know some of the Sisters in Dublin. This is a very vibrant community with steady growth. They had to give up their beautiful "ancient" monastery and built a new one some 10 years ago. There since they started receiving new vocations and haven't stopped. The first two new Sisters have already made solemn vows within the last year or so, and they have several in temporary vows. They also have two postulants. This community has been a great help for new foundations of Redemptoristines in Eastern Europe -where the Order is also growing, and is currently directly involved in work for the Order in the slow process of creating new structures. I would certainly recommend to take a look at the community. The Redemptoristine spirituality is a "pearl of great price".
nikita92
I cant quite see it in their picture..could you please describe the pendant they wear as a part of their beautiful colored habit? Thank you!
Orans
The pendant that the Redemptoristines wear is the image of the Most Holy Redeemer or the Most Holy Savior (originally). It is a picture of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World in his human form because the Redemptoristine is called to be a living reminder of Christ for the world today. -a living Memory. The colors of the habit speak of the same: traditionally Jesus and Mary wore a red tunic and a blue mantle, thus the Redemptoristine habit. You can see this in many traditional paintings of Jesus and Mary. The Sisters in Dublin wear the Holy Redeemer image in a mother-of-pearl medallion, where the image represented is like this: You may identify it in this picture of the Sisters in Dublin: or here in a nun from Liguori now in a new foundation in Thailand: Many communities use this pin:
Lil'Nun
Thank you for the replies. I think that when I am free to enter I will definitely be contacting these Sisters, and possibly also the SSVMs.
JMJ/M&M
There is another English-speaking community in Austrlia & a Traditional Latin Mass Redemptoristine Community in Sao Fidelis, RJ (Brazil). They still use the traditional habit. The Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer in Sctotland (Transalpine Redemptorists) have articles about them & deceased holy Remdeptristines on their blog: www.papastronsay.blogspot
