This is a no-brainer for me. I have tried to fit in with other spiritualities but Carmel got into my blood and isn't ever going to let go. I love St Francis and St Calre (my confirmation name is Claire) and I totally love the Benedict/Scholastic story but Sts Teresa and John stole my heart a long time ago and I am a daughter of Carmel now.

But isn't it wonderful that the Church is so rich in diversity that it has blessed us with all these amazing spiritualities and saints?

I voted "other" because I find many parts of so many of the spirtiualities ring within me strongly. I guess that's why I" pursuing diocesan life rather than Religious Life.

I'm trying to decide between Carmelite, Benedictine, Passionist, Franciscan, Clarian (never called it this before :)), or Dominican... lol... clearly I'm just listing ones that I have researched and I like them all! but I think a big aspect is Marian spirituality :) which I hope can be intergrated with others... ???

Edit: Sorry, quoting not working!

You may want to look into the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate or the Poor Clares of the Immaculate, though like you said most every solid community has Marian devotion, but if you were looking for a Marian Vow the FIs are great! Many communities who do not make a vow consecrate themselves totally to Mary, so you could look into those communities as well. (There's a thread somewhere but I completely forgot its title! :topsy:) If you were looking more for general Marian devotion, all of the Orders you listed above have that, though each could make its own case for why it has the supreme devotion to Our Blessed Lady. ;)

I had never called the PC spirituality 'Clarian' either-I like it. Though my very favorite is Clarisses, which they are called in other countries.

IGNATIAN!

How can we leave out Ignatian?   :)

Also Marian via Kolbe.

Thank-you for posting this! If we had props, I'd have propped you!

That was my first thought, "How could you leave out Ignatian?"

Even if you are female, there are LOTS of Orders with Ignatian spirituality!

For me, along with Ignatian, there is a wide streak of Dominican. Or, maybe I have a wide streak of Ignatian in my Dominican spirituality.

Since I was born several days early (patience has never been one of my virtues!) I am firmly convinced that my "fetal self" chose to be born on the feast day of St. Ignatius.

Carmelites are completely Marian; the two terms are almost synonyms. The first two Holy Parents/Patrons of Carmelites are the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Prophet Elijah. The first Carmelite hermits who lived on Mt. Carmel called themselves the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Totus marianus est Carmelus ("Carmel is all Mary's") is one of their mottos
