Ed Normile
This was a neat article on C-Net http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57552225-38/senate-bill-rewrite-lets-feds-read-your-e-mail-without-warrants/?part=rss&subj=news&tag=title It seems Senate Democrat Chairman Patrick Leahy thought he could sneak this in with another bill set to go before the senate next week. The bill Leahy proposed would have given the government and all branches of law enforcement unlimited and warrantless access to your emails, facebook accounts, ip connections, google docs, twitter tweets. The bill was touted as another way for the U.S. nanny state to protect the citizenry, I would guess he figured as the sheeple of America who have given away so much of their freedoms already for handouts and safety would just lay down and take one more in the name of security. The good thing was after C-Net published this article there was such an outcry that Leahy has tweeted that he will not back this bill next week. I would still call your Senators in case he does another one of his famous 180's and tries to sneak it in anyway. Perhaps if he promised some free music downloads he could have gotten away with it, afterall we all deserve a free handout. ed

Law enforcement organizations spat donut crumbs all over the place in fury.
