4588686
You can always get a new sailboat.
I could. But you never forget the first time in that wonderful nautical world (I sailed on the Pamlico river) with the water gently splashing you as you skim across the surface. It's a bit scary at first but as you gain confidence you learn to keep things controlled. You don't let one burst of wind completely throw you off your game. Also, the last one was a gift from a relative who found an old one and fixed it up. Sailboats can be expensive!
Sailboats tend to be very high maintenance. I mean you can let a sailboat languish and it will still be there. But it won't be any fun when you get in it and try to skim around. Things get rusty (rudder, mast et cetera) from the salt water and it becomes cumbersome and difficult to do anything aside from just tacking back and forth repetitiously. Mark of the Cross
I rarely dream about swimming, but cannot possibly imagine how someone could imagine that would be sinful.
Depends if there are white pointers in the dream I suppose. err white pointers are sharks.

I always inevitably start drowning!
Well. Most people naturally float if they just lay back. So I guess that in your dream you accidently swallow way too much water at once and it 'went down the wrong pipe.' It's a common beginners error. If you accidently swallow it without meaning to your best bet is to just spit it up (I always do but I swim in some brackish waters). If you're really chocking and not just freaking out because you swallowed some water you didn't intend to, then you can just follow this advice: http://forums.runnersworld.com/forums/runner-communities/beginners/choking-water-running
