TheresaThoma
Lovely, I went to their chapel a couple of times when I lived in Saint Louis. They are a beautiful community and I am glad that they are getting more vocations.
VeniJesuAmorMi
May God reward you for sharing. They have a beauitful blog. I really liked this one called "Smile!" "What if sanctity was as simple...or maybe even as difficult as a smile? Think about it: at work you often run into someone you know dislikes you or whom you dislike and you smile at them! Why? Because God dwells in them. Our founder St. Arnold taught us to smile at one another as we pass in the hallways: greeting the Trinity dwelling within the other. Or what if you gave God your best smile when you are depressed or angry—that's virtue. It not only increases seratonin but brings to your mind God within you, helping you to go beyond how you are feeling. Our bedridden Sister always says: “Keep smiling—for him.†She never stops smiling and I know she suffers. So maybe holiness can be as easy (or as hard) as smiling." It is just so true what a smile can do, and hide, for love of Jesus.

maximillion
When I first saw those pink habits I could hardly believe my eyes.....PINK!!!!! It has taken me quite a while to not be shocked each time I see them. I have no idea why I reacted this way - maybe for me pink is just too girly (personal response). It has probably been said elsewhere but does anyone know why pink - if there is a specific reason?
Mary's Margaret
I wondered the same thing. On their website, they have a lovely video in which the narrating Sister mentions that the pink "symbolizes our dedication to the Holy Spirit." beatitude
Pink is the colour of joy (think Laudate Sunday) and along with red it is traditionally associated with the Holy Spirit (think Pentecost). However, red is also associated with the Precious Blood, which may be why they picked pink over red. Personally I think the shade of pink is very sickly and I hate the way their chapel and convent seems to be dominated by pink as well. I could not live or pray in such a cocoon of pink. When I was still discerning religious life, I went to visit one community and knew as soon as I entered the chapel that I could never, ever enter there unless I welded my eyes tight shut during prayer and didn't have to look at the combination of the garishly patterned carpet, the textured orange wallpaper (!), and the enormous crucifix that was studded with gold baubles for no reason that I could see. After that it was a relief to get inside a Carmelite enclosure and enjoy some quiet creams and browns.
