immaculata
I've seen some people kneel when I was at a retreat at Marytown... I used to genuflect before receiving, but after the GIRM specified not to, I obeyed.

Oik
The shirne of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL (EWTN commercial) has a communion rail. I wonder if that will make a come back? This is the only reason I could see to kneel while receiving communion.

Birgitta Noel
Up until just recently (due to his relocating) I used to go to Fr. Antoine's private mass twice a week. Yeah, it rocked, just him and I and Jesus, oh yeah, and all the angels and saints! Anyhow, I digress, my point is this. I always knelt for communion there because Fr. would bring Him right to me. The first time it happened I opened my eyes expecting to stand to receive and there was Fr. right in front of me bringing Jesus right to me. It was a very intense and intimate way to receive my Lord, I almost lost it. From that point on that's how I received at his private mass. That said though I wouldn't do it at a normal mass since it is verboten, but even if it weren't it seems like too much for a normal mass, and it's possible that one would be doing it to show how holy they were or something. Note I said, possible! I just want to clarify that I don't at all look with disdain on those who do kneel at mass to receive.....and thanks Jason, I stand corrected, it is discouraged, but not verboten! Anna
I kneel every time I receive Holy Communion, no matter where I am, or whether there is an altar rail or not. The Holy See issued a recommended adaptation to the American bishops, telling them that those whose sensibilities so incline them to kneel for reception of Holy Communion should not be punished or have the Eucharist withheld because of their posture. Cardinal Ratzinger wrote a beautiful essay, "The Theology of Kneeling." In it, he described a certain visionary who had seen the devil. The most remarkable thing about the appearance of the devil was that he had no knees! And why should he? He refused to use them before God. Why kneel? Just because It's Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity and I'm little old sinful Anna, receiving Him. And yes, I kneel before receiving the Precious Blood as well... (It really only takes a fraction of a second, and I'm a clutz!) Pax Christi.

Anna
Thanks, Jason. Superb researching. These are the very documents and letters to which I was referring, but was too lazy to provide the quotes! Isn't our Church great, though?! Certainly the heart of the Church supports kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament. Pax Christi. <><

OwNeD_byGoD
it is in reverence to kneel before recieving the Holy eucharist, dont only do it for "special" masses, since all masses are special in their own different ways of course, it is in reverence that we kneel, i mean if nobles bow to their king shouldnt we kneel or genuflect to ours? our diocese is not necessairily for it but yeah, i cant receive it yet, oh man i cant wait till i do though, after RCIA...yea yuh! I love the verse from the Ascension passages..."I will be with you always, even unto the end of the ages."
