my favorite sacrament actually, although i should go more regularly. I'm working on going monthly right now. The sad thing is i always hear it get dissed, but i have a friend who asked me about it awhile ago (out of curiosity, not to attack) and she was like "ya know i get the whole thing about confession, I think it's a really good idea!" and i was like "Sweetie you just made my day, can i give you a hug!"

i definitely agree.....although sometimes it can be discouraging confessing the same sin over and over and over and over....but then God says "fuhget ah-baat it (insert boston accent)" and you are good!!!

im on the 2 week plan pretty much, although i go whenever i need

a note about being scrupulous.....the pope goes to confession EVERY DAY.....i mean come on people....God wants to give us this grace and forgiveness....thats why he gave us the sacrament!!!! take advantage of it!!....but not of God.....thats been one of my biggest things is knowing that if i mess up i can just go on saturday and be straight so i keep sinning and whatnot......bah i hate being human

ok im done ranting!

nah thats the sin of presumption....you know God will forgive so you sin because of that............scrupulous i believe in that context means (heres my edit after consulting with uncle webster) like you worry too much about the little stuff.....like you should only go if you have a big thing to confess or something to that effect

any help?

It's very humbling to think that the Pope goes to confession every day. I also felt that when a priest told me that he heard the confession of a nun living in a 'closed order' every week too! You really have to wonder what she had to confess!

Hi Ellenita,

I wondered the same thing out loud once and Fr. told me that those in religious life are often tempted more by Satan than the rest of us. He really attacks them because he HATES what they are doing with their lives.....

That's really humbling!

Scrupulosity is a problem where one becomes constantly preoccupied with sin thinking they have commited mortal sin when they have not committed sin at all or a venial sin. yes focussing on the small things too much. it can eventually lead to dispair of God's mercy because you don't believe God will forgive you. It can lead you to worry a ton about your confessions so thats why you should not go as often then I think to fight scrupulous tendancys and only go more often when you are absolutly sure of it being mortal sin.
