In America if one holds a patent they have intellectual ownership of an idea or concept or product they produced and anyone copying their product or using it owes them fair compensation. This goes for the Colonel's 7 herbs and spices in his secret recipe, the internals of the Iphone, as well as Bob Seger's music or any industrial application. From China they import illegal copies of film, music, hardware etc. essentially stealing the fruits of anothers produce. It takes all teh fun out of it when I have to explain it... ed

You would merely have made an argument about IP (and your support of a global means of enforcing the ownership of ideas for whomever first manages to get an idea filed with the patent office). I'm supposed to be upset about the Chinese copying 'Merican stuff and selling it for less--thus driving down prices and forcing massive corporations to actually compete. I reject protectionism in all its forms. I don't believe it's possible to own an idea, nor do I believe it's moral to wield force against someone for arranging their property in a way your patent protects.
