Judas Maccabaeus
The Catholic Church recognizes the Holy Maccabees as Saints, but what does that mean? Some websites for Saints say that the Seven Holy Martyrs are Saints, but it does not say JUdas Maccabaeus or his brothers are. It also does not say that they are NOT Saints. So, I remain confused about it. Hopefully, you can answer my question authoritatively. Good luck, God bless and Shalom. Theoketos
The Eastern Churches are bit less strict with their use of the word saint to describe people, especially the OT folks. That maybe where you are reading this. The seven brothers and their mothers died to uphold their sincerely held religious belief in the resurrection. It seems obvious to me that they are martyrs and thus saints. I know at some point that Adam and Eve's feast day was Christmas Eve. Hope that helps.
