Gabriela
I wonder if this is already well known in here. The first time I saw it, I thought maybe it was inappropriate, given the use of a secular song. It made me uncomfortable. But then I thought of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's advice to take secular things and "uplift" them through religious appropriation (kinda' like turning hip hop Catholic...), and when I watched it again, I cried. It's very moving. Sorry if it's already been posted! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AadnA8Jet2A&list=FLOJqVM8xJYQBtOnTl0Y7fpA&index=33&feature=plpp_video
emmaberry101
If its alright, curiousing, I would love to quote your words in the comment section of this video. The highest comment right now (has been for a while, I believe) is saying that the video is not good-specifically that it would make St Teresa "roll in her grave" because of the secular music. You made a good point in your post. Thanks for posting!
Gabriela
I've no idea where you intend to quote my comment, emmaberry101, but you are of course welcome to. You should probably credit the Rebbe, though. It was his idea, not mine! You know, cloistered nuns pray for the whole world. They're not against it. Their whole vocation is to "uplift" it. Why shouldn't the world contribute to their uplifting, where it can? It's a beautiful song... Edited November 16, 2012 by curiousing
BarbTherese
Beautiful video, beautiful song. It near on brought me to tears also, and goodness knows, I do not cry easily at all. All that exists in our world exists to give praise to God and our task to ensure that it does wherever we may be able, for the things of this world can be used other than for their rightful purpose. I can't help but wonder if it would make St Teresa 'roll in her grave' - I like to think that she would really appreciate it. There is a story that a nun travelling with St Teresa came across her eating chicken on day and was shocked. St Teresa replied that if she is given chicken to eat, then she eats chicken. Then there is that well known comment by St Teresa "Lord, spare me your sour faced saints". St Teresa was down to earth and very practical with quite a sense of the funny in life and not at all it seems to me the 'pious and holy religiousy' type of 'saintly' stereotype. In fact, in St Teresa's day, the game of chess was very much frowned upon and rather like a monastic nun playing poker. St Teresa knew how to play chess. St Teresa of Avila strikes me as very 'earthy' and very human and holiness ideally does make us more human - in fact wholly human. 'Holy = wholly'. Just my tuppence! But again, a very beautiful and moving video and thank you, curiousing, for posting it.

Chiquitunga
This is by my friend One night we were watching religious life videos and I showed her this one of Brandee's .. She replied something like... "if the world wants an explanation, this is the closest it's gonna get!!!" lol Then she felt inspired to make her own version and asked Brandee before she uploaded it. She loved it and said she didn't even have to ask! The pictures at the end symbolize things.. like poverty, childlikeness, etc. Also some other things in the video are particular to her.... Yes, now whenever I hear this song (like in a store or restaurant, etc.) I think of these videos and Carmelites

LOVE this!!!! :priest: Wow. That's beautiful! What movies are the clips taken from? (Specifically, who is the religious priest who receives the stigmata? Is that St. John Vianney? Sorry, I don't know saints very well yet!)

That would be Padre Pio taken from the movie "Padre Pio: Miracle Man" -- one of the best Catholic movies. :)
