BarbTherese
I read this document in one sitting last night and with it my whole life fell into instant perspective and I saw for the first time a path ahead. I have always, until last night's read anyway, experienced my path as unfdolding gradually as the days passed and I had lost any sort of need to make sense of it all. It is an amazing document to my mind. And I had the experience as if The Holy Father was addressing me personally - I could not put it down and when I had finished it, I wished I was just starting it. It will be a 'bedside favourite' (a text to which I regularly refer). One of the things that I really appreciated is that TheHoly Father would at times use a theologically accurate word, then there would be a comma and what the word meant was explained. I found it an outstandingly simple document to understand, rich in insight, explaining very complex subjects and a difficulty that is probably common with us all - understanding the why's of suffering. Coming across the theology of The Permissive Will of God years ago was an eye opener for me and a resting place of Peace at times - and Salvifici Doloris has been the icing on the cake, putting it mildly in the terms of my own experience reading this Apostolic Letter.
