crusader1234
I think this is a funny sort of thing too. They make fun of it on Mad TV (stupid stupid show that I havent watched since grade 7) with girls named Sharifa, Bonifa, Latifa... etc. I personally think that if they think its a good name, why not? Ellenita, whats wrong with hippies? Is that just a general resentment or what? Haha, anyways, my favourite weird names I've heard are: Bao Bo Wen (My Chinese name, I'm not Chinese but I speak it anways ) Rafka (Maybe its Rivka) Torah (This Rachel and Simon are my neighbours kids) Rachel (pronounced Rah-kel) Simon (Pronounced Sh-mon) Aishwarya When I grow up I'm going to name my kids after songs. Maybe thats taking my love for music too far, but some names I think I might use are... Penny Lane (For the Beatles) Carey Green (For a combo of Joni Mitchell songs) Johanna (After the Bob Dylan song, plus its the name of my Great Grandma) Angelina (Again a Bob Dylan song) Isis (BBob Dylan...) then there are more but i'm already insane
homeschoolmom
My daughter thought it was pretty cool that she has the same name as a spice (Rosemary)... so when our second child was due, we joked that its name would be either Herb (for a boy) and Ginger (girl). But we went with Timothy. Now Rosemary obviously has some sorta biblical conncetion (She was born at Easter, so we say that Jesus ROSE from the dead + Mary, His Mother = Rosemary)... and Timothy, obviously does as well... However, as stated above, rosemary is also an herb... and timothy is a type of grass... so now for our third child we had to find a biblical name that also had a botanical connotation (is anyone still reading this whole thing...?) We thought of Violet (Lydia sold violet cloth...) or... well... we couldn't come up with anything... His name is John.

OwNeD_byGoD
Different cultures, different names. Down here on the border, germanic names are common. I know several Gilberts, a Filbert, a Humbert, a couple Hilda's, and a Helga. We should strive to overcome cultural differences by reaching out and trying to understand. Often this will not be reciprocated, but we have a mandate from the Holy Father. God bless.
hey hey im a gilbert!!!! woohoo!!!!
