OnlySunshine
You got a t-shirt? They give out t-shirts at even discernment retreats? Hmmm. I wish I could say that I might come back with papers...but...I'm too young still.
I don't want to influence you wrong or anything, but didn't one of the earlier postulants enter at 17? I think it was sheiscatholic's sister Sister? So, even though you still need to finish school, it is possible that you could enter next year. Just something to think about.
DiscerningCatholic
I think so. They also had a postulant enter at 16, but she already had a high school diploma, and I'm afraid that she was more mature than I am.

Pax_et bonum
One of the postulants who was at the retreat is 17. It just depends on when you graduate high school, so if you're a young'un in your grade or home schooled and graduate early, then they'll allow you to enter. IgnatiusofLoyola
Awww thanks guys for all the prayers! Yeah I didn't get papers...muhahahahaha I got a t-shirt though And hugs..lots of hugs!
I actually feel better that you didn't get papers. As I understand it, DSMME retreats can be very emotion-filled (in a good way), but I also worry that some young women might get swept up into the emotion. However, I actually shouldn't worry. All the steps involved in filling out papers would make any candidate think more about whether they were sure that this was God's will for them. And, I have to trust that the Sisters in charge of vocations can spot a candidate who is both right for the Order, and ready to enter, versus one who is/was caught up in the emotion of the moment. mantellata
I might add that `getting papers`is not merely a given. My understanding is that there are interviews etc.. and a previous email / letter writing relationship involved prior to applying... and then post application one needs to be accepted. I think we on the outside should trust that the superiors involved have a bit more prudence than to simply allow all and sundry to enter without ferreting out first if a girl is merely on an ``emotional high``

Honestly, I think it's good that they are open to giving girls a chance to try their vocation, but not so open that women who do not belong there are able to enter. I also think it's prudent that they give psychological evaluations, as well. I love and respect the DSMMEs and think they are a beautiful order.
