The piece that I have not seen anybody say anywhere is this. True we are in basically the same place where we have started, the Senate is still Dem controlled Obama will give us more heartache for another four years and the Republicans have the House. Obama still used up ALL of his political clout to pass Obamacare, he called in all of his favors he can not push and bully as much. We basically re-elected a four year lame duck President. With the Republican controlled house their job IS stagnation of extreme agendas, and trying to push for compromise on their bills. We will not be able to overturn Bad parts of Obamacare, but damage can be minimized to a certain degree, we also need to be praying for our justices as they will have great input into the path the nation will tread in court cases. There is hope, my greatest fears are for the faithful of the Church and the souls of so many who are blind to what they are doing. Religious freedom and taking small steps is always the first part of loosing everything.

Seriously ? A lame duck with senate backing, now thats a novel thought. Then you mention praying for our justices, how about the 2 new justices that liberal/socialist Obama will be able to appoint with the backing of his liberal/socialist senate to pass them through ? I must assume your line about "my greatest fears are for the faithful of the Church and the souls of so many who are blind to what they are doing." is in reference to the likes of Biden and Pelosi who claim to be catholic and continue to promote abortion? These people well know what they are doing, they have been told about it by Bishops, if you were any kind of a faithful catholic and a Bishop told you that you were wrong you would have to change, these were the people that Obama had meet with the U.S.C.C.B. and informed the Bishops that they should follow the advice of modern catholics and leave their out dated mores behind.

Well, if we're looking to brighten the day, I saw this on another site:

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young,
we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid light bulb?

Border Collie: Just One. And then I'll replace ALL the wiring that's not up to code.

Dachshund: You know I can't reach the stupid lamp.

Rottweiler: Make Me.

Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

Lab: Oh Me, me me, PLEEEEEEEEZE let me change the light bulb. Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I, PLEEEEEEEEZE, PLEASE PLEASE?

German Shepard: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

Jack Russell: I'll just pop it in while I am bouncing off the walls.

Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

Chihuahua: Yo Quiero Taco Bulb.

Pointer: I see it, there it is, there it is, right there--RIGHT THERE

Greyhound: It isn't moving, who cares?

Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle.

Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear, and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

Terrier: Let me bark at it for a while to see if it really needs changing.

To Jesus Through Mary

Its refreshing to see the youth here with a positive attitude! I still can not escape the feeling of doom I have been plunged into. I am worried that we are entering into a sever est of our faith and religious freedoms, and judging by the election results I doubt we will be able to stand up to that test. Someone wrote in one of the many political threads here " catholic voters are a joke " and I bow to him, he was right. Another wrote " who would vote for a pro-life candidate " again I have been proven wrong.

I guess I put too much faith, too much of my soul into believing that America was a collection of good decent people, souls who would take a moral stance against death, homosexual marriages, and the government mandating the morals of religious faith, again I was wrong. I had high hopes for teh Catholic vote, this forum did cause me to rethink that and I then put my hope into the evangelical vote, and all for naught.

Perhaps , God is his wisdom feels that we need to be chastised, it would not be the first time and probably not the last either. Socialism/Communism has no room for any god other than the state. In Germany under Hitler he started out eliminating the gypsies, no one cared, then he moved against the jews, and as the old saying goes when you do not stand together eventually there is no one to stand with you. It led to the point where the catholic church was driven underground, those that were left open had pictures of Hitler displayed where the Crucifix used to be.

Well, it is what it is and I fear its going to be a wild ride. We face massive tax increases, loss of even more jobs and most likely a depression not only monetary but a true depression of the soul. I know I am there.

Ed- I understand where you are coming from I really do. Things look bleak. But in the end that quote from St Teresa that Red put up earlier is really true.
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
– St. Teresa of Avila

Friend, we must just abandon ourselves to His providential hands, knowing and trusting he will give us the grace necessary to withstand the test. God's ways are not our ways, nor his thoughts our thoughts. He is still in control. :)

A basset hound would grab the lightbulb and make you chase him until you trade it for a dog biscuit, or he'll just eat it.

LaPetiteSoeur

I always find the "moving to Canada" thing hilarious. I know after this election, tons of people on Facebook said they were moving to Canada (they had wanted Romney to win)--but Canada has all the things most Romney supports don't want--socialized medicine, etc.

Moving to Canada isn't as easy as everyone seems to think it is.

It is harder than moving to the US, that is for sure.

Ash Wednesday

I have an ultra liberal friend who left the country when Bush was re-elected, then came back after Hope and Change, then left again (and said she was disillusioned by Obama) and is now coming back for more Hope and Change.

The silver lining of Obama's re-election is that I'm not really homesick anymore. :)

At least in Europe I get some great old churches and art out of the deal.

Good grief... It's like waking up in Europe without all the cool castles.

Here's another laugh for the day. I got this from a daily Groupon deal for a Romanian restaurant (bolded emphasis mine):

"Eastern Europe's hearty cuisine is designed to give people the strength to withstand long winters and fights for control of the region's scant remaining vowels."
