I predicted he would get 60% of the Catholic vote...

I used a very scientific method: counting the cars in my church parking lot that had Obama stickers on them...

Exactly zero at my parish.

But I belong to one of those hopelessly benighted, unenlightened FSSP parishes where the priests actually preach that un-hip, antiquated thing called the Catholic Faith.

(But, I suppose, like the GOP, the Catholic Church needs to drop all that irksome old-fashioned moral stuff, and instead focus on relevant things like socialism and free contraceptives.)

Socrates, didn't your co-star Roseanne Barr run for president?

You must be confusing me with someone else.

I'm Walter Sobchack, veteran, patriot, bowler.

And I sure as hell don't roll on Shabbas.

But the GOP is stuck in the Sheriff Joe, seal-the-border stuff. This is where they need to revamp the platform. That ship has sailed.

My hubby and I were just talking about this. Totally agree. Let them in, legalize the ones here, whatever. Just deal with the immigration issue NOW, right now. Count your "losses" and move on to the other issues, the more important ones. I think the Latino vote is what cost us this election.

And you wonder why you have a "Phishy" tag on here.

No I don't.

No....it prevents the pro-life movement from getting further scammed by Romney.

I would argue that this actually helps the pro-life movement, because we have a much better chance of getting a real pro-life candidate in there in 4 years as opposed to 8 or more.

Romney would have kept the status quo on abortion according to his previous record. He would not have helped it.
To paraphrase Paddy Bauler, it unfortunately appears that the US is not ready for a real pro-life candidate.

The US will never have a pro-life, 100% bonafide, overturn-Roe-v-Wade president. Ever. Sorry guys. Just the way times are changing!

Like only male-voting.....slavery.....British Rule....the Roman Empire.

I hesitant to use the word "never." :|

Probably should say "never again"...because we've had staunch pro-life presidents in the past. But it will never be undone. Roe v Wade, legal abortion, the "morning after pill"...none of it is going anywhere.

And ALTHOUGH I am very liberal and believe that women should have access to contraceptives (albeit not taxpayer funded), I do fully support the Church and other religious groups protesting the HHS mandate. Freedom of religion and the right to practice their beliefs. Catholic employers/groups should not have to be forced to provide a medication/contraceptive (especially when it's not a "life saving" drug like bc) that is directly contradictory to Church teaching.

I never saw any at my parish either. Though I only go to a huge run of the mill, suburban NO parish that just practices Catholicism. I'm sure there were parishoners who did vote for Obama (this is Minnesota, after all), just never saw any stickers.

50% of so-called Catholics voted for Obama. It is obvious they worship a false idol and are Catholic in name only.

Regardless of how flawed you feel Mitt Romney was, it does not compare to how unprecedented this election was. No incumbent ever was re-elected with such a horrendous record. Then again, no other candidate had such control over the media.

The electorate has decided they want an all powerful central government, they no longer believe in themselves. They want the Obama phone, Obamacare, etc. They have accepted the current misery of high unemployment, a worthless dollar, inability to get credit and high energy costs. They have bought into the collective salvation.

Those who voted for Obama and his party (Elizabeth Warren won?) see it as their religion.

And the absolute ignorance of our country, its constitution and the branches of government, amazes me at how 60 million people are clueless. The President cannot utilize executive orders to grant them rights. The government cannot give rights. but here we see everyone from the Supreme Court to the house to local government shredding the Constitution.

Divine providence? We have been abandoned. Welcome to last days of the Roman Empire.

so Catholics who voted for Obama aren't to blame?

so people of all stripes who didn't even vote aren't to blame?

a piss-poor GOP candidate isn't to blame?

the infighting and poor management of the GOP isn't to blame?

just the third party voters are to blame? lol
