Yeah re-electing him is, in my opinion, a truly "stupid" decision, but I have to make the distinction not to call the people themselves "stupid" because I guess certain people think that's name-calling. I thought my original meaning/intention was obvious, but I guess not.

Calling someone a name qualifies as name-calling, yes.

FP, Jesus was pretty open about pointing out truths and calling people names, what did He call the pharisees, a den of vipers.

Take away Romney's "promise" of prolife and of repealing the HHS mandate. What do you have? A person whose record shows just about the same way Obama's does.

Now imagine that you are not Catholic, maybe even not Christian. You' re not happy with the economy or the foreign policy of the current administration. You're not even really happy with Obamacare but you really have no idea how to address the giant problem of the current system (disband the AMA). Sure we're 16 trillion in debt and that's a large abusive of borrowing power. But where's the proof that Romney's going to be any better? His plan stops spending, sure, years from now. What about now? You live in a city and are kind of out of touch with how food works. You have no idea that Midwest and western states still have a large coal industry, which is loosing a lot of jobs because of the current administration.

I mean honestly, what difference does it make whether its the current incompetent president or a new one. At least people know this one. There are also legitimate reasons not to vote for Romney. His record and what he said didnt mesh. He gave no one conviction that he would do what he said.

I highly doubt that most people who voted for Obama actually liked the idea of it. It seems to me, from what I read and know from people who voted that voters on both sides were voting AGAINST the other person and not necessarily for their candidate. Republicans and Democrats. So rather than stupid, my guess is that voters felt stuck. Like "let's stick with this incompetent nincompoop rather than bring a new, just as incompetent nincompoop"

And sure there are some who just ignorant about politics. I'm amazed at how many college people say really dumb things about the world. But dumb people are not the only ones who voted for Obama. And to call everyone who voted Obama stupid is just reactionary.

Hell, some of the smartest people I know didn't vote for Romney. Or Obama.

Btw, I did not vote for Obama so please don't start with that. If you run poor candidates, you have poor results. And with so many (let's say all of the people who didnt vote for him plus maybe half of those who did) upset at Obama, he should tread carefully.

none of that matters, the election is over... and the advocates of the culture of death are rejoicing...
that doesn't matter either.

Yep. They sure rejoiced when Christ died, too. And when the Berlin Wall went up. They rejoiced when saints were martyred and when the pope was in Avignon.

They were defeated. So who cares if they rejoice now. They still lose.

...lets all just wait patiently for the coming of the Lord ... hopefully we'll all be a part of his sheep and not the goats...

It was a hyperbolic descriptive adjective used as an obvious (I thought) way to sarcastically express my disappointment with the outcome of the election, not really a "name". But to those who are easily upset over it, feel free to cry, "Name-caller!"

I'm not overly upset about it. I just don't think it was a fair name to call the American voters. I knew what you meant, I was just clarifying.

I have my issues with Mark Shea, but I agree with basically everything he said here:

Now if I had said, "Our Country's Voters Are Idiots" that would constitute name-calling. ;) Alas, I did not.

However I DO stand by my opinion that the majority of American voters are making stupid (i.e. "unintelligent") voting decisions.
