I was shown the official LDS Churches position by an LDS Bishop. So I know what the LDS Churches position is. But I suddenly realized that I do not know the Catholic Churches official position. I have always assumed that the Catholic church is opposed to all abortion.

Abortion is such a grave crime before God that to have one, to preform one, to assist in one, to aid someone to receive one, are all automatic excommunication offences. It's called a Latae excommunication. That means you are excommunicated from the moment the abortion occurs. There is no need to have a hearing on the subject first. You have basically excommunicated yourself automatically and immediately.
