AuthorOfMyLife
FuturePriest, I can't believe all the criticism you're taking! I believe in good criticism--but I think perhaps it could be more gentle, and offered more as a suggestion and not as a demand or order. Personally, I think your last but one photo is great (I mean the one you prefer)--blurry or not! You are smiling and standing straight. Good job! I'm a little curious to know why you are going to wear a cassock at your sister's wedding--as I don't remember you being a seminarian yet. Perhaps it is for serving? The criticism doesn't sting much. It did at first, but I have come to enjoy the criticism. It is humbling, something which I need if I want to become a Priest. So at first when I came here a year ago I hated it, but I have found it to be a blessing in disguise. God wants me to go through it, otherwise I never would have made it a year. Despite what some may consider to be harsh criticism that I take, I really love being here and I love all of the people here. I really don't think twice about it anymore, to be honest. I'm wearing it for the wedding itself. That is, for the wedding Mass. I have the honor of being the only altar server, and I get the privilege to serve with a Benedictine Priest. Before then I am going to be an usher, and after that I will of course be at the main table and everything at the reception, but for the wedding itself I am wearing a cassock with a surplice. Edit: To add to the first paragraph, when you mention that things appear to be a demand or an order, if this is true then that is good. It teaches obedience, another virtue which I need to become a Priest, and then of course onwards to becoming a Bishop! I'm joking of course. Cassocks just have a way of widening out your mid-section. In reality I'm skinny as a rail. I'm 5'4 and 116 pounds.

I asked my sister what she wanted me to do with them, but she just said to let them hang. The first cassock I had actually had a cloth belt attached to it and I was confused when this one didn't. I don't see the sense in getting a sash yet since it's not even my cassock, though.
