To Jesus Through Mary

I have no words of wisdom, other then you should probably speak with a wise and compassionate spiritual director. But you are definitely in my prayers.

I've notice that I am not nice to myself. I always feel like a nobody. Like, I feel like just a downright bad person. But, when I think with my head, I can obviously come to the conclusion that this is not so. But, how do I get over this? It's been a problem of mine for a long time. I feel like I'm so unworthy of Gods love. I don't know, am I just messed up? Do you know of any good texts or resources I could read?

p.s. before you start writing about how I should go to confession. That's always a good idea, but mortal sin is not the issue here just so you know.

First I am going to parrot that a spiritual director is what you really need here, there are too many degrees in which the things you mentioned here can be good or bad.

A general acceptance an appreciation of how unworthy we are can be a good thing, and I might go so far as to say a necessary thing. The part where you say you feel like a nobody is where I think the deepest roots of problems can be seen. Some hope for you is that Saints Ignatius of Loyola, Frances de Sales, Jane de Chantal, Alphonsus Ligouri, Therese of Lisieux, and Katherine Drexel had all struggled with scruples and have lived wonderful lives and overcame/ learned to deal with this issue. Might I suggest praying to them for support and reading of their lives for further guidance of your mind as well.
