We should get matching costumes for all the kids. Then we could play "Siege of Leningrad."

That which holds the image of an Angel becomes itself an Angel! Don't blink. Whatever you do, don't blink.

Sorry, I'd hoped to get back on here before now! Unfortunately, while I'm on the Pacific Coast, somebody accidently cut our cable, so I've been off internet until now....

BRAIN PASTA for happy ZOMBIES:

If anyone wants to cook up a pot of that pasta that looks like brains, here's the recipe. It makes 5 giant servings or 10 regular servings... and yes, you CAN double the recipe. You can make the sauce in a crock pot for 6 hours on high (or 12 hours on low)... or simmer it in a pot on the back of the stove for a few hours. The longer it simmers, the better it is....

Here is what you need:

1 to 1.5 lbs of stew meat (beef, pork... even chicken I guess...)
1 Bottle (24 oz) pasta sauce (I use Classico but pick your own poison)
1 Cup red wine (or white if you prefer)
5 cloves of garlic, chopped
1/2 Cup flour (for dredging meat)
1.5 Tbsp olive oil (for browning meat)

Dredge raw meat in flour (shake it in a plastic bag or roll it around on a plate) and brown it in olive oil. Be sure you brown all sides. You do NOT have to cook the meat, just get the outside brown.
Place in crock pot

NOTE: you may refrigerate the meat in the crock pot at this point and finish assembling later.

When ready to cook it:

Pour bottle of sauce over meat
Add chopped garlic
Put wine into sauce bottle to 'clean' bottle and pour over meat and sauce; stir.
Cook on high 4-6 hours (240+ mins) or low 8-12 hours (480+ mins)

When it is ready, turn off heat. If you like mushrooms, you can add coursely chopped raw mushrooms AFTER you turn off the crockpot. (The heat of the sauce will cook them but not overcook them.)

While the mushrooms 'cook' in the sauce, boil water on stove and boil up a box of rigatoni or other pasta (non-spaghetti shapes will look more like brains....). Figure one box is 8 servings... so about 3/4 box per batch of pasta sauce.

When ready to serve, put a pile of the pasta on a plate, and after stirring the sauce gently to mix the meat and mushrooms into the sauce, spoon over the pasta. Sprinkle with parmesian cheese and/or chopped parsley if desired....

This recipe makes 5 HUGE servings (or 10 small ones!) -- and you will have some VERY HAPPY Zombies!!!!

For anyone watching diet, each serving will be:

Meat, 4 oz
Pasta Sauce .5 cup
Red Wine, 1.5 fl oz
Garlic, 1 clove
Flour, whole grain, .1 cup
Olive Oil, 1 1tsp

That recipe sounds beautiful...even for brains. And the pictures look amazing! Maybe I'm more a zombie than I thought... :)

Spem, you're turning into one of... .US.... ;)

You can also use that sauce as a FANTASTIC stew -- just add veges before you turn the pot on..... (potatoes, carrots, peppers.. whatever you like....)

Speaking of turning into one of us, Spem....
