every pro-life group in the country considers health of the mother to be the 99% exemption

You can't use the "every pro-life group in the country considers..." argument when every pro-life group in the country is endorsing Romney.

indeed, and their line of reasoning is that Romney doesn't include the "health-of-the-mother" exemption. I cited a pro-life group saying that IF he did include that exemption, then he would not have their endorsement.

Romney has a decades long pro-choice record. He changed his rhetorical tune while running for the nomination. In the general election, he reverts and includes the very pro-choice "health of the mother" exemption. His spokesperson assures pro-life groups that he doesn't really mean that. He also, during this general election cycle, specifically says he doesn't foresee any abortion-related legislation during his term, and that it is a matter that has already been settled by the courts and will not change.

Pro-life groups have endorsed Romney because they have overlooked these things. I have every right to cite those pro-life groups to defend the fact that the health-of-the-mother exemption is a VERY pro-choice position (it is, in fact, the attempted conversion of the pro-life movement into a non-movement that allows for 99% of all abortions and is placated by that, legislation including "health-of-the-mother" would set the pro-life movement BACK decades because most of the uninformed people will tout it as a victory and will no longer work for another ban, as most people are okay with some exemptions and will not realize that this is an exemption that nullifies the ban completely), because I am also pro-life; a pro-lifer does not have to be a part of a mindless monolithic voting block.

It's a very simple thing: if you believe his spokesperson who cleaned up after his statement, then you think Romney is pro-life. If you believe his actual statement as consonant with decades of his record, you realize that he's a health-of-the-mother pro-choicer, which is the most dangerous kind of pro-choicer there is, actually.

Oh, and actually that's not true that every pro-life group has endorsed Romney. Abolish Human Abortion has specifically withheld their endorsement from Mitt Romney for these reasons.

southern california guy

I am not a big believer in Socialism -- but Obama is. I do not support Federal funding of abortion -- but Obama does. I am not a big fan of Federal Health Care -- but Obama is. And I would rather see greater freedom and liberty than more government involvement in peoples lives.

But... when it comes to which candidate more closely reflects my values... it is incredibly Obama. Romney is such a ridiculous choice by the Republicans that I am exasperated by the whole situation.

Romney made the exceptions extremely limited, within a fraction of a percentage for a woman to legitimately get an abortion. Therefore respecting the sanctity of a baby's life. Which makes it right to chose him over Obama.

It's funny how you are desperately trying to paint Romney as pro-life when he isn't. It's like those adults who insist on believing that Santa Claus is a real person who really delivers presents through the chimneys of good (Christian) boys and girls.

We can't just throw mud in the air and hope it will stick.

Is there an irony emoticon?

Only you are showing your true colors. You don't care about the babies lives or a women's life for that matter. All you care is to get Obama re-elected. You're not fooling anyone. I'm done talking, I'm out of here.

Whenever anyone boils down their political opinions to "we've got to save the little babies," I can't help but think of the movie Chicken Run
