petitpèlerin
Material by Franciscans or about Franciscans? I love GK Chesterton's biography of St Francis.
Egidio
Grab yourself the "Omnibus of Sources". This contains all the ancient biographies of St Francis, and some stories of early Franciscan life. But you just have to be aware the "The Major Life of St Francis" by St Bonaventure is the official biography. Some of the other biographies were written with definite agendas. . but i will have to go through a course in Franciscan history to explain that! I would also highly recommend the autobiography of St Charles of Sezze, plus there are numerous books about some of the more recent Franciscan saints, St Maximilian Kolbe, St Pio of Pietrelcina and St Leopold Mandic; Three friars who truly lived the Franciscan spirit in our modern era. I have plenty of other suggestions, but that should keep you busy for at least a year!! Happy Reading!!
