Awww shucks. I almost got really excited because I thought the one in the middle had a blue scapular and cape which would have meant that he was a Dominican Missionary for the Deaf Apostolate, but then I realized it was just his cappa. (still cool as Dominican Dominicans but not quite as cool as the DMDA. see pic below)

I can't let you all get away with not having any Dominican NUN photos up! Really!
Here is our community photo for our Christmas card.
We could name it, "How many shades of white?"!!

I can't believe that I forgot about brother Ursus! I used to have a picture of him as my desktop. There's one on the Godzdogz website (the website of the Oxford friars I believe) of Br. Ursus in the kitchen helping the other brothers cook dinner. I'm pretty sure that's the one I had as my desktop. He's so cute! He actually inspired me to make a habit for one of my bears that I then gave o a friend. Her name is Sister Ursula :)

Here's my favorite group of Dominicans!

They are the Dominican Missionaries for the Deaf Apostolate in San Antonio TX. http://Dominicanmissionaries.org They were recently founded by a Deaf priest to do ministry to the Deaf as well as to teach the hearing Catholics about the Deaf community and their needs. They are such an amazing group of men!

JMJ+

I love the Dominicans for the Deaf Apostolate as well.

However, Cathinterp7, I could be wrong -- something may have changed since they were in the SF area, but I don't think they are wearing blue scapulars, capuces and cappas... I think they are wearing black ones. When they were set up out here, they simply requested permission to wear what had been the OLD cooperator brother habit for the OPs.... the one you often see St. Martin de Porres wearing, which is a white habit with black scapular and Capuce (the hood part) and the cappa for formal occasions. I remember seeing them when they were out here.

They may have changed since they moved to Texas, but my bet it is just the color reflected in that chapel, because look at these pix from their website.....

Anybody know for sure?

I've met a couple of them, and they were all wearing black & white - not a trace of blue on them!
