Random Reflections About Phatmass

So I was just realizing I've been hear for 9 years. Next July will make 10 years... that's a long time man... I grew up on phatmass haha. And it's always there, wherever I've gone in the world, whatever I've been doing, whatever's been going on in my life; this place always pheels like home... home on the digital continent. I've accessed it from Ireland and now I'm in Belgium hanging out here (procrastinating from my school work, I've done that here on phatmass throughout high school and college haha), it's cool... like no matter where I go there's always a home there to go to. That's the cool thing about the internet I suppose. but it's different than that, it's not like facebook or something; it's more cozy than that, I suppose.

anyway, I'm living here in basically a dorm (though the rooms are singles), and everyone in the dorm speaks dutch haha, well they mostly all speak english too but mostly dutch, but jumping on phatmass there's this home away from home that's always there. pretty cool.

I really wish I had met a cool phatmass chick sometime over the years and joined the phatmass marriage club haha... btw, I'm always open to that ;), but for the next two years you'd have to hop over to belgium if you wanna meet irl... or maybe some place exotic over the summer haha.

so who here feels the same gooey way about this place? I know there have been fights and disagreements and some bumps along the road, but ultimately phatmass is a great little village on the digital continent.

so anyway, if you feel like I do, you should probably donate to phatmass; I can't cuz I'm shoe-stringing a grand European education right now, but you should. seriously, keep a roof over my head in this home away from home... it's totally worth it.

seriously, I'm thinking too... like, how long will this go on? I don't think when I started I ever expected a 10 year membership, I never really thought about it that way; but now I'm thinking life-time membership, sure my participation always ebbs and flows, but it's always the place to go... like, one day I'll be 80 years old and still jump on phatmass from time to time and catch up... assuming dUSt has not become an immortal cyborg, does he have a will for this place? ... what if in like 300 years phatmass is like this old institution, passed down from generation to generation? hmmm... we'd better get started on ensuring our places in the history of the whole thing.

Al, I have no doubt that if in 300 years phatmass is a grand ole institution, your name will be spoken with awe & trembling. ;)

seriously, i've learned so much here. not just about my faith, but about politics (trolololol), the world, and thinking through a Catholic lens (still learning). i've learned how to speak fairly intelligibly (still learning) about what i believe, and if challenged, to defend it or acquiesce that i'm wrong. plus, our little phamily is amazing and serious in its love and steadfastness for another. it's good to be a phatmasser.

I definitely feel "the same gooey way about this place." And I, too, hope to be hopping on Phatmass from whatever gadgets they have us using when I'm 80 and sharing with the newcomers tales about these last 6 years, and the years to come, and helping them to get out of this place everything I have, and more. :)

THIS! I love that even though a lot of us have never met "in real life," we still share a very real bond and love for one another.

Nine years for me as well, and I feel much the same way. I have matured in the faith here, always hanging around even if taking long hiatuses from regular posting. If I knew I'd be around this long I'd probably not have registered as "the dude"!

I learned how to write really lame haiku and found an outlet to express my fascination with llamas. I discovered the joys of trolling the goofballs and the sport of derailing threads that become way too serious. Good times. Fun stuff. Pass the bacon please!

Aww, phatmass warm and fuzzies!

Wow, it's hard to believe 2003 was almost 10 years ago now! I have definitely felt phatmass has been virtual home for me. Moving around all over the place, often with no Catholic community, phatmass has always been a safe haven, somewhere I can go to lean on and learn from an amazing group of people. :)

I'll be coming up on my second anniversary this January.

I can't help but feel like a "little brother" on here. There are so many of you guys that I look up to in some way, shape (if you are MIkolbe) and phorm.

I know that many Dark Nights have been caste away by this phorum. And I know that it will be a place where I will proclaim the many great things to come.

Grazie, miei amici!

Wow. Y'all make me feel like I joined yesterday. After being here for 1 year 2 months and 28 days it had seemed like forever up until now.
All of you are the best! Phat Mass is my home away from home most days. Even though I will have (most likely, God willing) have enter some convent before my 10th anniversary comes around you can be sure I will never forget the great years I spent here will you guys.

Love you all,
fran

Four years, nearly four and a half. Time does fly.
I am one of the lucky ones who found a 'significant other' partially due to the group here. :)
