prose
Yesterday my Facebook Status was “I have been meeting with prominent secular psychologists, sociologists, marriage and divorce experts. I have asked the people working in the Catholic Offices that deal with annulments. I have spoken to therapists and priests. I have been asking them all what the number one issue marriages face today and the most common reason for breakdown. Without exception, the answer has been the same. Can you guess what it is? (I was really surprised)†Here is my blog about it. Would love to hear feedback. http://catholicmomma.wordpress.com/2012/10/17/what-is-the-problem/
Nihil Obstat
I just started reading your post and haven't gotten into the meat of it yet, but I just wanted to say that your teaser yesterday was a highly effective hook. :D In most circumstances I probably would not have clicked the link, but you marketed it excellently. eagle_eye222001
Agree with Nihil. Excellent marketing, and an excellent post. Would not be incorrect to mark it as the "silent danger" as few take it seriously. Of course, once you can clearly identify the enemy......then, you can attack. :starwars: Imagine the Fire - The Dark Knight Rises Soundtrack Album

jazzytakara
This makes a lot of sense, I think its such a big problem today because our culture promotes it so much. And it is no longer a male only problem, I have been to conferences where women and men dedicate ministries to women struggling with pornography and other lust based sins. Also sex is getting snuck into younger and younger age groups. I watched a few 'preteen' and 'teen' shows lately, and the amount of sex related plots is astounding for such age groups. The world truly has changed. I remember when I was 11-15 years old and the biggest romantic involvement in tv, books, and movies was the 'first kiss', now everything is about the first time between preteens, extramarital affairs, affairs with teachers and older adults, etc. In adult culture it is everywhere on tv, the Game of Thrones television show has 90% more sex in it than the novels it was based upon. Literature today is more about erotica than plot too. In a society where sexual acts at any age/relationship status, its no wonder that pornography is effecting so many marriages. People get sucked in with the soft porn that is prevalent everywhere in our society, and many times it leads to more hardcore pornography. Its rather unfortunate... LouisvilleFan
Really, that was a surprise?
Unfortunately, it still is to a lot of people. And not-so-suprisingly, it seems marriage prep is unlikely to address it either. I just took a FOCUS exam (a tool that I presume many dioceses use) and not a single one out of 100+ questions even hinted at pornography. Good excuse to write our bishops, I think

CatherineM
When I worked in the tribunal and divorce court it was money. Things have changed in the last 20 years.
