Freedom
I like communities that are Marian because I simply adore & the Virgin Mary! Some Marian communities do not pray the rosary communally. I think the rosary is a super devotion to Mother Mary & the mysteries are based on the Holy Trinity. I usually pray the rosary privately anyway, sometimes with others. Should I completely disregard even visiting a community because they don't pray the rosary communally? Or should I keep an open heart because there could be a chance that maybe God wants me with them? Decisions, decisions!
nikita92
Ask yourself how you would feel, if you werent able to pray the rosary on a day to day basis. Would it bother you to pray it only by yourself Or is sharing it with a community more important? I have seen alot of communities schedules that have a hour or so for rec time. If a communitiy doesnt have the rosary aspect..maybe you could use that hour to pray it on your own.

If you feel very strongly about this then I would follow your heart. I think it's a little strange for a community to not pray the rosary together and I don't think I'd purposely join one unless I truly felt called there. BTW, why would a Marian community NOT pray the rosary -- the prayer of Our Lady?

Marian communities give devotion to Mary in other ways besides the rosary, but I totally agree with you!
she_who_is_not
Some active communities don't pray the rosary communally because the Sister's schedules vary. While the sisters in formation will pray the rosary together, the sisters active in the apostolate find a time to pray the rosary when they are best able to meditate. I think if praying the rosary communally is important to you, it may be a sign that you are attracted to communities that are more active contemplative and place a greater emphasis on communal prayer. ChristinaTherese
I personally really like the way the Whitesville Passionists say they pray the rosary:
Each day, the Nuns are free to take time to pray the rosary at their own pace and with their own manner of meditating on the mysteries. This assures that it is not mindless rattling of vocal prayers, but truly “an exquisitely contemplative prayerâ€. (Cf Pope John Paul II, #12 of his Letter on the Rosary) “By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace....â€
But I don't know how works best for you. I find that communal recitation can end up with me getting distracted in the middle, but it's still a good thing to pray together even if it doesn't work very well for me. I have prayed the rosary before with several people and I remember someone would say it super fast & it's hard to slow them down. I can get a little distracted too. I don't know, I think I'll try to keep an open mind and heart about it, you must be open to do God's will anyway.

My mom loves to pray the rosary on her way to work with a CD that our friend gave us. We prayed it on the way to the airport and I hate when the leaders on the CD go so quickly that you can't keep up with the prayers. I love praying the rosary communally as I used to do that after Mass at my old parish in front of the Blessed Sacrament. However, I do not like repetition if it becomes meaningless, mundane prayers. Sometimes, you need to pray it alone so you absorb all that you are praying.
emmaberry101
Honestly, I often find it hard for me to concentrate when I am saying the Rosary in a group. However, I also have trouble saying the Rosary devoutly by myself as well! I am just a slacker when it comes to this beautiful prayer. You can always pull a St Therese and make a sacrifice out of it, if you are called to a community that does not say the rosary in the way that you are most easily able to meditate. organwerke
There are many communities that pray rosary in community, especially those that have a Marian charism.
