OnlySunshine
Honestly, both of them have flawed views on what constitutes a "right to life." That right doesn't end if the mother has been raped, a victim of incest, or her life is in danger. The unborn should be protected no matter how they were conceived. Biden may be part of a terrible administration but I really wish that both candidates would change their viewpoints to support the full belief of the Church. dUSt
I'd be willing to bet that there's an awful lot of Cafeteria Catholics on Phatmass. In fact, I'd wager that a lot of them rock Church militant tags.
I disagree.
Yes, that's true. I forgot about the case such as St. Gianna Molla who could have had a hysterectomy even though it could have caused indirect death to the unborn. She elected to have the fibroid tumor surgically removed to try to save the baby. Thanks for reminding me. I love that saint.
CatherineM
If you talk to an OB/GYN, they will tell you the health of the mother thing just doesn't happen. Routine screening for eclampsia of every pregnant woman would take care of most issues except for those who have been diagnosed with a cancer. I got eclampsia with each of my pregnancies and brain swelling with the last two because of my head injury. When my health was truly in danger, I miscarried. That's what a woman's body is designed to do. Women die in childbirth, not in pregnancy. The number 1 cause of death in pregnant women, by huge margins, is murder at the hands of the baby's father. Next is car accidents due to not being able to use the seat belt or reach the steering wheel properly when in the last trimester. The health of the mother thing everyone is actually talking about is mental health. Having a baby she doesn't want causes stress and depression, etc. That's dragon dung.
Jason Evert says there have been studies that have clearly shown having an abortion causes hellish mental effects on the mother, even in cases of rape. In fact, when a study was done on women who had abortions because they were raped, it took them way longer to get over being raped than the mothers who chose to not abort them. Abortion is not a solution, it's a gateway to more problems.
