Archaeology cat
So, Romney and Ryan get a pass for their moderately pro-life/pro-choice stance because they pay lip-service to wanting to minimize the amount of abortions that happen, while stopping short of outright banning the practice? Isn't this sort of the same lip-service that Obama and other Dems give? In fact, aren't the same words and sentiments about "limiting the need for abortions" paid by every.single.politician.ever? If they are going to place themselves above us common folk, take for themselves the power to rule our property and even our lives, basically if they want to claim rights that normal people do not have, then they had better be heroically virtuous, saintly people. Since they are not, I reject their claims. ETA: The best part is that heroically virtuous, saintly people do not claim to be better than the common folk.
First off, they don't "place themselves above us." They run for office and are placed there by we, the people. If they fail to meet the performance standards of a majority of voters within their voting district, they will be removed from office. Secondly, I reject the idea that they have to be holier or more virtuous than me. Why? They're supposed to represent us and our interests. They don't have to be popes or priests--they have to be politicians. Intrusive questions about their spirituality are inappropriate and in-germane; keep me and my family safe, help my community with whatever powers your office allows you to have, and try not to spend us into oblivion. I thought sinfulness was sort of a zero-sum sort of deal; you are either a sinner, or you're Jesus. So, unless I am mistaken, you, me and Joe Biden are all in the same boat. That was my point. Oh, and 4 people can't be a Trinity--it would be a Square.
You think "we, the people" actually run the show?
