LOL, I'm surprised it took them this long to figure it out.

Now they just need to find a way to reap that harvest. Hint: the seminaries need to get bigger.

All the good ones have run out of space and money. I would know, I went to an orthodox seminary.

It's a nice problem to have until you realise you're leaving God's harvest in the fields to rot because you can't be bothered to come up with a proper training program for all the young men who want in.

And people say that there's a vocations crisis. :hehe2: At my university during the prayer intentions, one of the intentions is for more vocations. Well, from this we can see that contrary to popular belief, plenty of people are interested or at least curious. I also keep thinking of what a peer of mine said, that the problem isn't that God isn't calling people, but that not everyone is responding to the call. A more accurate prayer intention would be to pray for an adequate response to vocations.

Somehow my post reminded me of this, guilt tripping and pressuring people into vocations. "Bring out your vocations!" Please note that there's a little language.

Groo the Wanderer

many folks entering seminary do not get ordained. that is how the process of discernment works. seminary is not just for formation of priests, but also for discernment whether the seminarians have actually received a call. i doubt arf was tossed out for refusing to wear the cassock or for setting fire to the sacristy with his laser

He actually just told the story of his time in seminary over in the Vocation Station. You can read it here: http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/topic/124300-a-seminary-story/
